How to be Confident In your Health and Fitness

How to be Confident In your Health and Fitness
Are you confident about your health and fitness? Not surprisingly, well-being is something that most people take for granted... until a personal health crisis (or global pandemic) delivers the ultimate wake-up call. For me it was a slow decline in mental health, which goes hand in hand with the physical, resulting in hitting rock bottom mentality. It was a big wake up call when I finally admitted my suicidal thoughts to my counselor, realizing that I would rather be in the hospital than go to work as a new mom.

If you’re unsure whether your immune system is healthy enough to ward off something serious . . . or if working at home has you feeling inactive and sluggish . . . or if you suddenly realized it’s been years since you went to the gym, said no to sugar, took important vitamins, or even went for an annual physical – hey, we’ve got some work to do!

Maintaining a healthy, active body – at the right weight – with good mental well-being just makes life better. In fact, you can’t live “the good life” if your health is a stress factor for you. Of course, there are many MANY factors that contribute to both mental and physical health, but as I had to learn, there ARE things you can do to take action and fight for yourself.

How often do we believe...
"it's just in my genes, it's just who I am"
"this circumstance will never change"
"I will never feel any different"
"No one has time for me"
"if the did have time they couldn't do anything to help anyway"
"I just can't give up ________"
"it's too hard"
"I have too far to go, why even try"
Let me go ahead and tell you I had all these thoughts at one time too, and they are LIES.

You only need to have enough belief in yourself to take the next step. You may not know how much you're capable of until you reach the other side. I didn't know how much stronger I got both mentally and physically until I looked back. But that's why we track your progress, not to be obsessed with the numbers on the scale everyday, but to occasionally check in and see how far you've come. Will you start with the first step?

If you were going through the transformational Oola Life Coaching Program with me, what would your Oola fitness goals look like? Here are some ideas:

  • A nutrient-dense, lower-calorie diet: clean protein, fresh vegetables, fruit, healthy fats, no added sugar
  • Annual physical exam + current on age-specific tests
  • Daily exercise including good old-fashioned walking
  • Ease of movement and a pain-free body
  • Plenty of filtered water to drink + minimal caffeine
  • Mental well-being solid: joyful, happy, growing
  • Ideal weight and body composition
  • Healthy sleep patterns and adequate rest
  • Annoying health conditions diagnosed and handled

If you’re uncertain about your fitness level and need some help making goals (and staying accountable to achieving them), why not reach out to see if I can help you? No one is meant to do it alone; I didn't, and don't want you to try it either. We all need guidance, accountability, and encouragement to keep moving forward! Let's create new habits together going into this holiday season.

How To Get Your Mind and Body Ready For the Future You Want

How To Get Your Mind and Body Ready For the Future You Want
If your fitness, nutrition, mental well-being, and self-care has taken a backseat to other priorities, welcome to being a mom and a human! Most of us aren't where we want to be.

When we finally do decide we're ready for change, it's easy to wait until spring to focus on getting "summer body" ready, or to start a "new year new you" in January, but there really is no better time to start than now. NOW is the time to create habits before we go into the holiday season just to set ourselves back farther.

Every day is a new opportunity to focus on self-care, eat better, get adequate sleep, exercise often, and handle any longstanding conditions that cause pain, embarrassment or anxiety. Simply starting the journey toward being fit and healthy will boost your energy, immunity and brain function. What would that do for you?

A fitness breakthrough could literally change your life, because every other area of life is connected. Imagine what would change for you if you had the energy to meal prep rather than eating out - you might have less financial stress. Or imagine the activities you might be able to do with your kids that your fitness level wouldn't previously allow. Imagine just being able to function, and be present, consistently. I believe the future ahead of you is exciting, and full, and meaningful. You’ll need your mind and body to be ready for it.

To get started, I always recommend to not-overcomplicate it. There can be a lot of confusing information out there. Go back to basics.

What’s one step you could take toward better health and fitness? Could you . . .
• Cut out the sugar from your diet starting today?
• Start drinking water instead of coffee and bottled drinks?
• Book a checkup for that annoying health condition?
• Plan a healthy dinner, then take a 45-minute walk?
